The Cowshed

Our ethos is simple; to serve good, British food with an emphasis on quality, locally sourced produce, in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

The Cowshed was opened in 2009 by Adam Denton, who sought to create a restaurant in his hometown of Bristol that offered to combine an informal setting with an emphasis on quality, local produce.

An idea that clearly resonated with others in the South West, 2013 saw the expansion of the original Whiteladies road restaurant into the neighbouring former Picture house, offering the same experience in a new setting.

From the outset, the idea of “simple things, done well” has been used throughout the restaurant, both in creating the menus and in renovating the character-rich buildings to create a welcoming and relaxing dining experience for small, intimate groups of family and friends.

History

First opening its doors in 2009, The Cowshed became a welcome addition to the already thriving Bristol food scene and instantly proved to be a firm favourite with the locals.

Renowned for their meat dishes, it seemed only natural to find their own butcher shop to ensure a consistent supply of high quality meat. Ruby and White butchers was opened in July 2011 next door to The Cowshed Bristol.

The restaurant's continuing rise in popularity led to the expansion into the neighbouring Picture House building in October 2013.

Ethos

The Cowshed ethos is a simple one; to serve good, British food with an emphasis on quality, locally sourced produce, in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

The commitment and dedication to sourcing the best possible produce, while supporting West Country farmers and producers, is vital to the Cowshed as without them the restaurant wouldn't be what it is today.

Adam

Owner Adam Denton has lived in Bristol and worked in the drinks industry for the past 15 years.

Passionate about serving simple, honest food, his concept of bringing a little of the South West Countryside to the city stems from his childhood spent on his grandfather's farm.
